Sebagai partner utama Microsoft tentunya Nokia sebagai vendor pertama yang membuat ponsel Windows Phone 8, namun nyatanya tidak, ternyata Samsung lebih dulu mencuri start dengan memperkenalkan Ativ S.
Ativ S menggunakan prosesor dual core dari Qualcomm kecepatan 1,5GHz, RAM 1GB, kamera 8MP dengan LED flash dan kamera depan 1,9MP. Memori internalnya tersedia dalam pilihan 16GB dan 32GB.
Untuk ukuran smartphone, kapasitas baterai Ativ S terbilang besar, yakni 2.300mAh.
Layarnya berukuran 4,8 inci dengan teknologi HD Super AMOLED, dan telah menggunakan lapisan kaca antipecah dan antigores Gorilla Glass 2.
Tebalnya hanya 8,7mm dan bobot 135g, materi tubuhnya terbuat dari alumunium. Di bagian bawah layar tersedia tombol back, Windows, dan search.
Untuk konektivitas, tersedia slot MicroSD, jack audio 3,5mm, bluetooth, NFC, serta Wi-Fi dan GSM HSPA untuk koneksi internet.
